What to wear if you are super skinny.

First of all, millions of other women are in envy and millions will think you are suffering from an eating disorder.
But, millions are exercising and dieting to look like you. But, we understand your frustration. All it takes is guidance on what to wear and what not.
Hopefully we can be of assistance so you can wear clothes that suit you and play to your strengths.
Follow our advice to get a feminine and trendy look.

The right cut
You need to create curves where you want them. You can dare to wear very tight close cuts or longer, bigger cuts to make you look wider. If you are a size 6 or 8 there are affordable brands out there that specialise in slim sizes and do some very feminine pieces.

The right colours
Almost anything goes. Currently fashion is geared towards women who are thin and happy in their skin. Don’t be shy about wearing bright colours: dare to wear red or yellow if you have the right colouring. If you want to look wider, wear neutral/light colours and play with contrast. For example wear light tops and dark bottoms or vice versa. Prints look great on you, so go for big motifs. You can also wear horizontal stripes if you are tall.

The right materials
Thick fabrics, soft and flexible knits suit you. Always play with contrast, for example team a silk blouse with jeans or a plain tee shirt with linen trousers or a satin skirt. You can also layer your clothes to fill out your figure.

The right accessories
With the right accessories you can highlight your strengths - your slim figure, elegant neck and lean legs. You can add volume by playing with horizontal lines.
- Belts
If you have no waist, go for wide belts in bright colours. If your waist is small, try out some beautiful original belts.
- Scarves
Scarves suit you well because they add volume and divert attention away from your figure. If you have very thin arms, wear a little chiffon scarf knotted around your neck rather than contrasting a thick knitted one with thin arms.
- Big bracelets
Wooden or metal bangles add curves! Wear several on your wrist to jazz up a dull outfit or give it an ethnic look. If your wrists are really tiny, bangles give an illusion of volume and of softness. Be careful not to go too bling, though!
- Ballet pumps
Ballet pumps are not only for long, thin silhouettes. It doesn’t matter if you have big feet: it’s the horizontal line that counts. If you’re short and skinny go for shoes with a slight platform or a little kitten heel. Wear them with all types of outfits, but especially with jeans or short black trousers à la Audrey Hepburn.
Avoid
- T-shirts with very short sleevesIf you have very thin arms, they're not very flattering. Go for ¾ length or long sleeves. Don’t do spaghetti straps if your shoulders are bony.
- Slight V necksThese are too pointy for you. They enhance the vertical line of your figure. Round or square necks are better. Also avoid long jewellery, but go for V neck jumpers over bare skin or a white tee.
- Flared mini skirtsThese can make your legs look even skinnier than they already are. If you like light skirts, go for long ones that flatter you more.
Also try
- Balloon skirtsOne word: volume! The balloon skirt doesn’t suit everyone, but it looks good on thin frames, whether you're tall or short. The balloon skirt is quite short and usually tighter over the bust. It isn't actually shaped like a balloon at all: it's doubled, with an uncut bottom. Go for dark colours and wear with ballet pumps for lightness.
- Pleated skirtsRock the schoolgirl look in pleated skirts that stop just above the knee. These are ideal for skinny legs because the pleats give fullness at the hips and thighs. Wear with a jumper and ballet pumps or heels. Don't team with schoolgirl-style shirts if you don't want to look like you're going to a Back to School themed party, though.
- One sleeved tops with a full, loose sleeveThese can be difficult to wear day to day but make great evening tops and one-sleeved dresses are fab for nights out.
- Bomber jacketsThey compliment your figure and add shape, which is exactly what you need. In terms of fabric, avoid synthetics which can look cheap. Go for classic leather or denim, and go for classic long-sleeved bomber shapes. Jackets should stop just above the hips. Team with jeans or a skirt.
How to cheat
- Plain white or coloured shirtsThey can be dressed up or down for all occasions. Tuck into your trousers or into a straight skirt to create volume, or accessorize with a little pearl necklace to add roundness for a girly look.
- Boot cut jeansA low cut waist is ideal for creating curves. Boot cuts make your buttocks round, and the new flared jeans are tight-fitting but flare out at the ankles, so they flatter skinny bodies more than other types of jeans like skinnies which can just end up making you look skinnier.
- Wide trousersThey're back in! Choose a pair with a good finish and large turn-ups at the bottom. They fall perfectly on flat shoes or platforms if you're short. Wear with straight long-sleeved sailor-stripe tops.

Celebs who dress well for their shape
The following stars are tiny, but dress to flatter their bodies.
Calista Flockhart
The Ally McBeal actress is so skinny that she's been plagued by accusations she's anorexic. Skinny just happens to be Calista's natural shape and she wears it well - certainly approves!

Sarah Jessica Parker
Known as Carrie to all of us and the Sex in the city fans, Sarah Jessica has become a global style icon. SJP is thin and muscular, but always looks fab and a little different. She's living proof we really can wear what we want, even if we're not model height. Thank you Carrie!!

Charlotte Rampling
Model-turned-actress Charlotte Rampling has always accepted her very thin body. In her youth she showed off her body in mini-dresses, and today she goes for elegant trousers and long dresses.

Keira Knightley
Super-skinny Keira has also been dogged by rumours of an eating disorder, but she's not about to cover up her willowy frame and flat chest. From dressed-down boho to revealing red-carpet gowns, Keira has the wardrobe of a young lady who accepts her body and isn't afraid to show it off.

For curvy gals and those who love them even if they don’t love themselves!

We all know the TV ad where the “maid / fairy godmother” slaps the woman with a fly swat for using to much washing liquid accompanied with the very funny “non-words” sounds – “OOOO, EE”, sounds better in real life than on paper, but hope you get my drift. That’s what I feel like doing when women don’t love their bodies. Actually, yes, I am getting a fly swat and I am going to slap you when you make yourself guilty of such behaviour.
So you have been warned, however let’s discuss your issues and how you can love and live with the body you have.

The days when full figured women were severely limited in their fashion choices are, fortunately, in the past. Designers and retailers now realize that offering fashionable plus size clothing is smart business. But, remember, the size tag is only seen by you. You don’t have to tell people you are “fat” or “big” and you don’t have to make excuses. Have you ever heard a “skinny” girl apologizing for being skinny? Enough said!

Full figured women know that who you are is not defined by what size you wear. You can look wonderful and feel great in the body you have. And with so many plus size women's clothing options now available at every price point, there's no reason you can't look your best. Looking for plus size petites, prom dress or wedding gown? Goth or rockabilly? It's all available for full figured women and teens.

Let’s look at some of the many options for plus size women and teens.
Which Styles Flatter Curvy Figures?

Fuller figures are often forgotten or disregarded, as it is the emaciated look that fashion magazines and brands are using to sell their product.
As a result, very little attention is paid to the girls with a little meat on their bones.
Here are some tips for those fuller-figured ladies out there who know that looking and feeling great doesn’t necessarily come with dimensions that read like Barbie’s…

Buy clothes that fit
Don’t pay attention to the size on the tag, only you will see this.
Well-fitting clothes can take inches off while clothes that are too tight can leave you feeling uncomfortable and actually add inches to your silhouette.

Don’t blindly follow trends
Know what you look good in, and accept those pieces that you don’t.
If you have a large lower body go for bottoms (skirts and pants) that skim off your hips and neatly disguise the lower region
Tight fitting pieces like skinny jeans will cling to your lumps and bumps and will exacerbate the issue.  Items that are too loose however will make you look larger than you actually are.  A-line skirts or comfortable bootleg trousers are your best options.

Dark colours truly are more forgiving
Stay away from lighter colours as they will make you look bigger than you actually are.  Instead of going Goth on a permanent basis, try substituting a black item for a dark purple, brown or navy blue once in a while: you’ll be amazed at the compliments you will receive.  These colours all share the common property of being equally as slimming as black (and not as mundane).

Wear vertical stripes
They will make you look taller and leaner while horizontal stripes will make you look wider.

If you have a bit of a tummy
Stay away from the following items: clingy fabrics (like jersey), shiny materials, bright colours and tucked in shirts.  Rather go for forgiving fabrics, darker colours, and tunics and blouses that give you a little breathing room.
That said however, stay away from anything that makes you resemble a tent. Doing this will only hide your curves and make you look bigger than necessary.

Structure
Spend your money on items that have structure to them: jackets with a cinched in waist, pants that have some flare, and shirts that hug you in all the right spots.
You are in the enviable position to pull off chunky and fabulously over-the-top accessories.
Opting for smaller jewellery will only exaggerate your size, so stick to accessories that are in proportion to you.
Keeping on the proportion theme, you can also play up prints and patterns
Smaller girls are limited to smaller designs, but you, lovely lady have a wide range of delicious prints and patterns to choose from.  Like accessories, your patterns must be in proportion to you, otherwise it just looks silly.
Boot-leg pants are great: not only are they stylish and classic, they will give you a perfectly proportioned silhouette.
Don’t hide your bust whatever you do.
Go for v-neck shirts and blouses, or button-up tops (but remember to leave the top buttons undone).  Wearing high-neck items will only make your top half look chunky.
Stay away from stilettos or kitten heels: your shoes should mirror your figure and the fabric of your outfit: if you have a lovely ample figure, go for shoes that give you support like chunky platforms or wedges.
Also keep in mind that the heavier the fabric of your outfit, the thicker your heels should be, so in preparation for winter develop a range of chunky-heeled shoes that will marry with your overall outfit.
A-line skirts are the most flattering skirt shape – they look great on almost any figure, and will hide a multitude of sins and flaws.
When you find a skirt that you simply love, get it in a variety of colours and patterns so that you can wear them throughout the year.  The A-line is a wonderfully versatile item: pair it with boots and tights during the winter months, or with great sandals and a blouse during the warmer months.

“THEY SAY”…..WHO ARE “THEY”?

Don’t know about you but I have NEVER met “THEY” that everybody is talking about.

I wouldn’t recognise “him or her” even if they are standing in front of me. Let me explain. Woman will come into the boutique, either because they were told about BIATCHES or they are back as they were happy with their purchases in the past. Sometimes they are “just looking” while waiting for their food or they are just popping in to talk.
Their eyes always wondering around like Hugh Hefner’s (from Playboy Mansion) eyes around a bunch of big busted blonds. Their hands will always reach out to touch the clothing hanging on the rails and you can clearly “see” that they are thinking of “THEY”.

At BIATCHES we will acknowledge you when you come into the shop for the first time, giving you time to look around by yourself and we will ask you to indicate to us should you need assistance. On the second visit we will offer coffee and after the third visit we will hug you. So, you see it is normally at the first visit that “THEY” get introduced to us. At the first meeting we start guiding customers towards what we think would suit their specific hair and skin tone and more importantly their body types.
After all, we do have a trained eye and track record to do so, but try and tell that to “THEY”.
This is how the conversation will go once you have suggested a specific clothing item…….”OH NO, I can’t wear that dress”; “THEY” say that at my age I can’t show my arms”.
I must admit in the beginning the reference to “THEY” went over my head. I thought that they, the customer referred to a husband or maybe a sister or friend.

Well, after three months of having most of the customers referring to “THEY” and I have still not met “THEY” and surely they (the customers) can’t expect me to know all these people or the “THEY’s” in their lives.

“THEY” are telling the customers that they are to fat for a certain outfit. “THEY” are telling the customers that your dress should be a specific length when you get to a specific age. “THEY” are forcing them to cut their hair when they get to a certain dreaded age.
I am not picking on anybody specific, but the worst are an Afrikaans mother and daughter team. The daughter will always remind Mom about “THEY” and that she can’t wear leggings. They normally speak with such “authority” that we are almost convinced.

Eventually I just couldn’t control myself; I had to know who this “THEY” are. I asked a lovely woman with an immaculately face and an understated French manicure. She said that she would love to wear one of our new lace corsets in lavender, seeing that it would have complimented her bright blue eyes but, “THEY” say that you can’t wear a corset as it is actually underwear.

I asked her who “THEY” are. She looked at me in shock as if I was from another planet or maybe I was in a deep sleep for the last three decades. When she realised that I really didn’t know who “THEY” were she was even more bewildered as she didn’t have an answer for me.
She also never met “THEY”. It is just a figment of her imagination, something she read, or her mother or her jealous husband said so, but yes come to think of it, she also has never met “THEY”.

BIATCHES, think rationally about it. Most women have issues with their own bodies, worrying about wobbly arms, dimpled thighs or fat tummies. Actually BIATCHES, its brail on your legs, rub your fingers over them and you will “read”, “you are unique and beautiful”. Only you will be able to “read” this message as it is your own brail and every woman has a different message “hidden in her legs”. Stop putting yourself down, other woman don’t have the time to concentrate on your issues. While you are thinking about your insecurities, they are doing the same. Stop thinking about your “not so perfect parts” as other people don’t think you are so important that they will waste lots of time scrutinizing your body.
Instead, rather think of all the beautiful parts you do have, like maybe stunning eyes, firm bum, naturally big boobs or a lovely smile and draw attention to that and away from the parts that are worrying you. Get more confidence by wearing something that flatters your body, wear a shoe with a heel, not only does it elongates your calf but it also lifts your bum which in turn gives you confidence. Wear shoes with heels, the highest you can manage. Don’t tell me that “THEY” say you can’t!

A day in the life of a "Queen Bee" in Biatches Boutique

Have you ever wondered what is going on at night in a boutique..

On the display table is “Queen Bee” exposed in all her glory. Her surroundings are perfect, perfect for a perfect garment. The lights are not too harsh; it’s soft to make her look even better - if it is even possible. She is surrounded by all things fit for a queen .A delicate orchid display, a dainty glass tray with a selection of Ice tea and carafes of mint and lemon water for those to enjoy while desiring the creation on display.
She is being admired by everybody, the skinny ones and the not so skinny ones. She is like a moth drawn to the flickering light of a candle.
They all want to hold her against their skins, look at themselves in the big mirror holding her in front of them as if they want to hide behind her; they all want to own her.

“Queen Bee” is use to this attention; actually she demands it like a real Diva. She is capable of pulling a Paris or Britney – you know, appearing without underwear to get attention. I said, capable….. not that she will do it, she has too much class for that.
“Queen Bee” with her ivory colour beaded fabric the same colour as real Champaign, not the J.C Le Roux’s of the world. We don’t have anything against J.C. Le Roux, actually that is being served in the boutique as it tastes wonderful and is priced right, but “Queen Bee” is a MOET.
As I was saying, she makes every outfit hanging on their little hangers waiting to be noticed, feel as if they are not worthy to be in the same room. However….it is not her doing, she is not “Bitchy”, OH NO. She is a BIATCH, in other words a nice bitch. She never looks down at the other garments, she is the one that give the pep talks when some outfits never get noticed, she is the one that will crack a joke when they are all alone and break the silence and make them giggle.
You see it is us. We are the “other” outfits that feel inferior, it is our own issues, our own stuff our own hang ups. We know each and every garment has its owner but we all want to be like “Queen Bee” - desired by all.
It was during these late afternoons and quiet times when the “I Feel Fat” purple and black dress gave a big sigh….we are not use to “I Feel Fat” dress participating in the conversation. She will occasionally say something, so it came as a shock to us when she sighed. Normally she will rather hang quietly thinking about biscuits and everything nice and hide behind the other garments not be noticed. Secretly she wishes that she will be the next one to leave the shop in the little brown paper bag with the dainty little ribbon bows.
Why is it that most women that come into the shop think they are bigger than they really are? Why is it that they always find something wrong with their own bodies? Either their boobs are too big or their thighs are only good enough to kick start Boeings at the airport. We will not even talk about the cellulite or as the little dainty dress with chiffon sleeves call it “hail damaged skin”.
“How can anybody love them if they don’t even love themselves? How will they ever notice me and realize how nice I can make them look”, sighs the “I feel fat dress”.
The giggling skimpy spaghetti strap dresses are too flirty and immature to understand what the “I feel Fat” dress is saying. After all, they are adored by every girl that enters the shop and every day one of them gets a chance of leaving their temporary space on the rail for a permanent space in some lucky girl’s closet.
“I wonder what colour hair my new owner will have” giggles one “Spaghetti strap dress”.
“I hope she is not blond as the yellow shades don’t really compliment blond hair and I don’t want to be seen with a Blondie”
“Yes, yes” giggles a Jade coloured “Spaghetti strap dress”. “I agree, I go better with blonds, and you will look better on somebody like Angelina; dark and mysterious”.
“GMFF”, a sound that resembles somebody that is really disgusted, came from a “Black Bat Sleeve dress”.
“You see yourself on Angelina’s body? Are you for real? Never will she wear anything remotely looking like you? I am an Angelina choice garment”.
“I am black, understated, and clingy at the right places and will not detract from the beauty of the body that is wearing it”.
“I see trouble brewing whispers an African inspired Kaftan to her mate. Some of the other dresses on the rail felt uncomfortable. They are actually a little scared of the “Black Bat Dress” and don’t want to be caught in a fight between little “Spaghetti strap dress” and “Bat Sleeve Dress” – as nobody want to take sides.

“Queen Bee” sense that trouble is brewing and instinct tells her that she will have to intervene. With a warm voice she says: “Come ladies, we all have a special person that will be wearing us and once we leave the shop we will never see one another ever again.
As with all the garments, we are also special and every one of us, although different, has “somebody” who will fit us perfectly. Love your body and yourself so that somebody else can love you.
